After the Rain

Allow me to introduce you to one of my paintings. "After the Rain" - oil on canvas, measuring 60x80 cm, created in 2023.

"After the Rain"

oil on canvas, 60x80 cm, 2023.

The painting depicts a park at sunset after the rain. In the foreground, leaning against a park column, is a ballerina. In the background, there is a silhouette of a man on a bicycle. The ballerina faces the viewers of the painting, waiting for someone dressed theatrically as a ballerina. The images and the concept of the painting are symbolic and carry a deeper meaning. It personifies youth, art, and beauty.

After the rain, which can be seen as a difficult period, she emerges and waits to attract love after the period of sadness. Art, which carries beauty, is the hope that will capture the attention of someone who has also traveled long in the rain of their own soul. Art is always young, bringing happiness and hope.

The man on the bicycle in the background may be drawn to the unusual scene or may simply be a passerby who has become chilled from the long journey in the rain. The future development of the event is left to the imagination and preference of the viewer. The figures are separated from each other to emphasize the solitude in which they find themselves. After the rain, everything around is fresh, plants become greener, and the playful sun reveals itself behind the trees.

In reality, I have never seen anyone do this literally—to come out with a ballet outfit, holding a bouquet of flowers after the rain, waiting for a joyful encounter with future love. I have always imagined that art would be an attractive force for such a meeting, and that the encounter would be genuine. Based on art, human relationships are different, spiritual, and free. Based on art, human communication is free from restrictions because with art, one can dream, unleash their imagination, and everyone somehow understands it with their soul. Art is a universal language between people, a language of the intellectual soul. In real life, I have not witnessed this, but I hope that one day it will happen. Everyday life is filled with objectifications and dogmas stemming from our fears and prejudices. After the rain, the moment of sunshine always comes, and after the rain, the moment of happiness arrives, but one must search for it. Who knows, somewhere out there, there will be a ballerina who will come out after the rain and dance in the puddles of the park like a blooming flower in the meadow of her solitude.

The painting is done in the style of pointillism, using oil paints on canvas. For the image of the painting, I used the model, ballerina Yasmina Arsova, who lives and works in Berlin, Germany. I painted this artwork in London, United Kingdom, where I work and reside.
